Bike 2 Ski Touring Adventure | Jupiter Peak in Park City

One of the best parts about living in a ski town is the shoulder seasons, when you can combine multiple sports into a single day. Well, once the ski resort closes down for the year, it's the perfect opportunity to combine biking and ski touring. Though we wanted to ride from our house, the spring melt made our route to cross the highway impassible, so we started from in town. After loading up t...

After spending the past 7 months building out the adventure van of our dreams, we finally hit the road for a shake-down trip. We started to head home by stopping in wine country of Paso Robles and even got to drive through Death Valley. A great way to ...

    Everyone’s saying use an old length of wire, which I don’t have. If you’re barely a hobbyist or not at all, why would you have extra wire laying around? How often do people have extra shoelaces? I just wanted the one that shows me how to do this with pliers. Your video should be at the top of the list. Thank you!

    • @ZacharyKenney8

      If they all look like the same type of link, there is a chance your chain does not have a power link to remove the chain. You’ll have to get a chain tool to remove a link. Those tools will push out one of the pins from a link. Sorry, I don’t have a hack for that just yet.

    • @ZacharyKenney8
      @ZacharyKenney8 3 месяца назад

      Sadly no. A lot of kids bikes and bikes from Walmart do not. You’ll need to get a chain link removal tool to do the job you’re looking for. Then add a new power link after you shorten it. It’s a simple tool, a lot of multi-bike-tools have them. But I haven’t found a solution to do that without that tool. Best of luck

      Don’t know if you’ve looked at other vids too, ik different vids show different things but what I’ve learned from vids and experience from shops is tune the edges before you wax, then use the crayoning method to apply the wax instead of the drip method, and something I noticed a lot of people don’t mention is taking off the bindings, taken them off will one save you from having to cover them or just being careful not to get wax on them, two it’ll give a more flat place to rest the board, and three the screws pull the board so you just get a more even coat

    • @ZacharyKenney8
      @ZacharyKenney8 6 месяцев назад

      We climbed it in July! September can be a great time to climb, usually pretty dry and still warm. Like any high alpine fun, you do run into separate risks. The later you go, the less likely there will be flowing water on the trail to refill (not the end of the world). But the worst thing that can happen is the early season snowfall. Leaves a snow up there too little for ice axes and crampons, but too much for comfortable climbing with just boots. Bit me on a trip in 2021.

      I couldn’t agree more, I was under the same impression… welcome to diving in Southeast Asia. They knew I didn’t have an advanced open water cert and they didn’t care. My wife (dive buddy) does, so at least there’s that. But yeah, I don’t want to say there wasn’t a big difference, but as long as you have a dive computer to ensure you’re safety stops are long enough, it was a normal dive for us.

    • @ttb1513
      @ttb1513 6 месяцев назад

      @@ZacharyKenney8 I see. Nitrogen narcosis affects different people differently at different depths, but it tends set in at 100 feet. Since it impairs your judgement kind of like being drunk and can even cause unconsciousness, it is very important to be aware of and trained for, as the deep diving specialty does. It is quite dangerous (for YOU!!, not them) that they allow a diver with only the basic open water cert to dive to even 90 feet, because the diver may not have the buoyancy control to avoid going just a bit deeper and getting narc’d. Or even with control, you may venture that bit deeper not knowing the risk and initial symptoms to be aware of. Glad you had fun and were ok. For all divers, DON’T TRUST THE LENIENCY OF DIVE SHOPS. It is up to you to know the limits of your training and experience. Check out the dry suit diver in Montana who died during training. She unfortunately had faith in an inexperienced training team.
